The Maiden Voyage of the Millenium Falcon

Last month we purchased an 18 foot trailer. Jacy and I both grew up camping in trailers and want Todd and Wylie to have those experiences as kids.
Over the weekend we headed to a nearby state park to enjoy our new toy, also known as "The Millenium Falcon" or "Milly".We splashed in the Green River, cozied in the trailer, frolicked in the forest and had a hot dog and marshmallow roast with friends who stopped by for the day.

Summer, summer, summertime!

Here is this year's summer list. I just hung it up while humming my favorite Summertime anthem by Wil Smith. Todd marked our first adventure off the list this afternoon!

Books, Books, Books

I can bribe my kids to do anything by telling them we can go to the library. Best bribe ever! "Eat your veggies, clean your room, get your hair cut." The list goes on and on. Here is Todd, happy to be bribed! Hair is cut, room is clean, vegetables consumed and books are borrowed.

My Happy Place

I have lots of happy places. Some make me happy because they remind me of happy days, some because they make me think of a delicious meal I ate there and some places because they are so beautiful they take my breath away. Coupeville makes me happy for all those reasons. I love it there. I love the red pier, the rocky beach full of life, the fabulous restaurants, interesting shops and the memories of heading there when Todd was a little guy to enjoy all Coupeville has to offer. This trip had the added benefit of a really low tide and a visit with two curious harbour seals and a frisky sea otter.

Every One Should Live on an Island

I only had one quick year on Whidbey, but it was wonderful and I enjoyed every second of it! We took a quick drive down the island to check out our old haunts. Our first stop was the beach down the hill from our house. We stopped to throw rocks and play in the sand.

I love an adventure,

especially one that involves a short road trip, some trip munchies, my book and a couple of cute kiddos in the back seat playing car bingo.
The first part of our adventure was quick trip to the Forest Service/National Park head quarters for souvenirs and National Park cancellation stamps. Here is my cute boy before heading in to buy his Smokey Bear treats.We continued our adventure at The Holiday Inn Suites with an evening in the pool and a long night of Food Network specials. We finished up our stay with each boy falling out of their hotel beds in the middle of the night and a quick dip in the pool. Next stop, Whidbey Island.
