The Pioneer Woman

I admit it, I'm a blog stalker and one of my favorite blogs to follow is The Pioneer Woman. I LOVE HER and I want to know everything about her. Sick, I know. I try to control myself but most days I just let myself enjoy her blog and wonder what she is having for lunch with her cute cowboy husband and four home schooled kids. Anywho, the Pioneer Woman was visiting Seattle and happened to show up at my favorite book store to sign her new cookbook. I headed there with my fellow fans, Molly and Kerrin (not quite as crazy as me, but fans none the less). Kerrin did tell the Pioneer Woman that I am the ring leader/blog stalker who introduces everyone I know to the joys of the PW blog. It's true.
Well gosh darn it, PW is just as sweet and kind as I imagined she would be. I had a lovely evening with my girls and just loved having my book signed and chatting for a couple quick minutes. The only problem, I think I am more of a stalker than I was before!

Donuts. Hmmmm, DONUTS!

Jacy made delicious applesauce and sour cream donuts Friday night for dessert. Oh my goodness, they were fabulous! Fried to perfection and sprinkled with cinammon and brown sugar. I ate so many my tummy hurt and I still wanted one more.

Book Heaven

The boys and I headed to my favorite independent book store to hear children's author, Andrew Clemments, talk about being a writer. Todd and I enjoyed listening to him talk about how important reading and writing has been in his life and learning about how he creates characters. I love books so much and it makes me so happy that Todd enjoys them too. Todd stood in line to get an autograph and was thrilled to talk with someone who has written some of the books we have at home.

LEGO Love

Todd entered his school's talent show/hobby fair with a display of LEGO people he arranged. He was so proud of his collection and the fabulous display board he created to showcase his collection.

Yakima

Jacy chose a trip to Yakima for his birthday weekend and I was so thankful that he did. We headed over the mountains to see our good friends Mike and Caroline and their sweet kiddos. A weekend in Yakima usually involves shooting guns, walks in the hills, great food, playing with Uncle Mike's expensive toys, walking through orchards, riding four wheelers, playing with a dog that is bigger than our kids and staying up way to late chatting and remembering all the fun we had in college. Can't wait for our next trip!

Scientific Thinking

Todd found out that his school was hosting a science fair and he signed right up to participate. He decided, after a long trip to the the teaching store, that he wanted to put together a project about his aquatic dwarf frog. He worked on it for three weeks and completed it the day before the Fair. I was so proud of him and he was incredibly proud of himself. We set up his project and he was interviewed by the judges and they were all impressed by his hard work. I realized after the event that he was the only kid younger that 5th grade who did a project! Todd's principal was impressed by Todd's achievement and is hopeful that more kids in the younger grades will participate next year. I can't wait to see what Todd chooses to do next time.
