Wylie Scott

Wylie. Talkative. Sweet. Adventurous. Grouchy. Cuddly. Imaginative. Hungry. Messy. Lovable.

Back 2 School

Yesterday was Todd's first day of second grade! He was so excited to head back to school to see his buddies and meet all the new kids in his class. He had a great day and happily told me every detail on the 25 minute ride home.

Portland Brain Tumor Walk:

Don't Be Sad That's It's Over, Be Happy That It Happened

Our summer is slipping away and we are enjoying all our wonderful memories. At the beginning of the summer I was blog stalking and found a great post about creating a giant list of summer activities. Jacy, Todd, Wylie and I bought our poster board, pulled out the Sharpie and got busy making our list.We did everything on our list except for 2 things and thought of lot's of other fun things that will have to go on next year's list. This is definitely a new family tradition.

Sweet Treat

Yum, Jacy and I love McDonald's dipped ice cream cones. We love how they taste, we love how cheap they are and we love a 2 year old covered in creamy deliciousness at the end of a great summer day.

Bainbridge Island

Our Summer is coming to an end and we are quickly finishing up our giant list of things to do. At the beginning of the summer we made a family list of things to accomplish over the vacation and ride a ferry was on the list. Jacy and I decided to head to Bainbridge Island because it is uncharted territory for us and it is an easy 35 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. Todd and Wylie loved the ferry ride and we quickly made it the island and proceeded to the nearest bakery for delicious cookies and tarts. We window shopped, found a fun kid's museum, bought books, had lunch, took a drive and found our way back to the ferry terminal. It was a quick and easy adventure that may make it onto next year's giant list of activities.

Bountiful Garden

I can't justly describe the peacefulness of a garden after a bit of rain on a warm afternoon. Just me and really sticky green bean leaves watching out for the garden snakes that I know are going to slither over my garden shoes at any second. I have convinced my grandfather that his garden has to be planted every year and since HIS garden is just a few steps away it is MY garden too. He does all the hard work, tilling, fertilizing, planting, weeding and eating. I get the easy parts, picking, weeding, preserving, cooking and eating. Today the garden is at it's peak! Tall, lush vines of pole beans. Huge, prickly crook neck squash plants with leaves that size of my head protecting perfect 3 inch squash from sun and rain. Rhubarb growing inside an old tire that will be lovingly prepped and popped into a pie by Grandma. Corn that makes me want to sing a Tim McGraw song every time I walk past it. Tomatoes that tasted so good in my salad tonight I hummed to myself as I popped the first slice in my mouth. And zucchini, humble zucchini that will be made into so many different recipes it would be hard to list them all. Brussels sprouts, carrots, raspberries, peppers, blueberries, pumpkins, oh my! Everything so beautiful and healthy this year I had to get my camera to capture the perfection of this year's garden.

Day at the Museum

Today was our museum adventure and we headed to Tacoma. Tacoma is a fabulous town that is often overlooked in this neck of the woods. It's so easy to get to and there are great museums all within walking distance. We started the day at the Washington State History Museum, had a break for lunch and then headed to the Glass Museum to explore. The boys were amazed by the glass and could have laid on their backs outside the museum to look at the bridge murals to capture all the designs, colors and patterns. Todd loved the glass blowing room and I have promised a trip back to sit and watch a complete project being made in the huge, hot room.

My New Favorite Picture

I love finding "surprise" pictures when I put the memory card into the computer to peruse my photos from a weekend. I found a whole group of self photos that Jacy and Todd took sitting on Auntie's couch. They are all keepers, but this one is my favorite.

Mason Lake

These are a couple of my favorite shots of Wylie from our week at the lake. He is a natural lake boy and was as happy as could be "driving" the jet ski and then Uncle "Teve" took him on a ride that showed him what the machine could really do, he loved it even more.
